The Monday Mix - 12.01.2025

Hello leaders!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Monday Mix. So much has happened that I will eventually share (and some I won’t), but it’s so good to be back. Today is December 1st, marking the start of the last month of the year. While I *definitely* believe that change can occur at any time and that we don’t need to wait to grow, I really love December because it feels like a month meant for deliberate reflection on the past year and intentional consideration of the year ahead. Of course, these aren’t activities that should only happen in December, but symbolically, it’s just *chef’s kiss*.

Anyway, I’ll do a wrap-up of the year later this month, so for now, I’ll say that I am excited to enter this period of reflection and preparation. I will also be taking action in several ways, which is also exciting.

Lastly, but *never* least, it’s my sister’s birthday!  As the oldest, I should 100% be the role model, but I want to be like her when I grow up.  She’s amazing, a true inspiration, and I’m wishing her the happiest day!

Word of the week: abundance

  1. an extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply.

  2. overflowing fullness.

  3. affluence; wealth.

I mentioned that December is a good time for transition, and we are currently in Sagittarius season, which encourages bold change supported by Jupiter, the planet associated with abundance. Recently, I have been working hard to maintain an abundance mindset rather than one of scarcity. Starting a business is exciting but far less stable than a traditional job's routine (and resources). Fear of lack and hesitation to take risks have kept me small and prevented me from living on my own terms. Although I am afraid, I believe abundance is mine, so all I need to do is make it real.

Quote of the week: “To bring about change, you must not be afraid to take the first step. We will fail when we fail to try.” - Rosa Parks

I have a piece coming out this week about how fear can hold us back. We aren’t on anyone’s schedule but our own. Yet, I’ve had several moments where I could have finished or achieved something much earlier than I did, but I was afraid.

Recently, I realized that the fear isn’t going anywhere. I can gain a skill, take a course, or do any other piece of preparation (which is a good and valid thing), but the fear is of the unknown, not of the opportunity itself. There will always be some level of fear, so the absence of fear cannot be the condition I use to move forward. I can be afraid and stuck or afraid and moving, and only one of those even has a chance of working. Fear does not necessarily mean failure. Failure only happens when we let the fear stop us, because at least we can learn from actions that don’t work. When we don’t even act, all we learn is that what we are currently doing doesn’t work, and well… we already knew that.

I think that’s enough for today’s comeback. It’s a little scattered as I think about all the things I will eventually share, and in the future, I’ll bring back the book of the week, or maybe even a song of the week, but this is good for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed it, and until my next post, keep leading!
